Description
Deutsch: 14.03.2009 04109 Leipzig-Mitte, Reichsstraße 4-6: Messepalast Specks Hof (GMP: 51.340277,12.377471). Errichtet in den Jahren 1908-1911 nach Entwürfen des Architekten E. Franz Hänsel als ersten Leipziger Messeneubau mit Ladenpassage. Früher hatte hier ein bekannter Kaufhof des 'Freiherr von Speck' gestanden, der mit Wolle handelte und in Lützschena Schafzucht betrieb. Dieser Kaufmann und Kunstsammler Maximilian Speck hatte 1815 den an gleicher Stelle befindlichen Kaufhof erworben. Nach schweren Kriegsschäden erfolgte 1947 der Beginn des Wiederaufbaus.
