Title
2008T636 Medieval Silver-gilt dress-hook from Alderford, Norfolk
Description
English: Silver gilt dress hook. The irregular octagonal sheet back plate is soldered to a circular frame with eight radiating circular knops around the outside edge. Secured in the centre of the frame by a large dome headed silver rivet is a separate cast circular openwork plate in the form of six s-curved tripartite leaves. The slightly distorted rectangular loop and incomplete hook are soldered onto the reverse. Gilding survives on the rivet head and circular frame, but is not present on the foliate plate.

Date: early 16th century.
