Deutsch: 22.06.2003 01097 Dresden-Innere Neustadt, Neustädter Markt/Hauptstraße: Der "Goldene Reiter", das Reiterstandbild (GMP: 51.058105,13.741339 ) von August dem Starken (König August II.), 1734 von Ludwig Wiedemann geschaffen nach dem Entwurf von Jean Joseph Vinache, einem französischen Bildhauer und Kunstgießer, der seit 1719 im Dienste des sächsischen Königs steht. Am 26. November 1736 wird "die königl. Statue in der Neustadt bey Dreßden auf Ihro Königl. Mayt. Mündl. Alldrgn. Befehl ohne alle Ceremonie entblößet". Am 20. Juni 2003 nach langer Sanierung frischvergoldet wieder eingeweiht. Über Ludwig Wiedemann hielt sich im Volksmund das Gerücht, er habe vergessen, dem Pferd die Zunge ins Maul zu geben, und sei darüber vor Kummer plötzlich gestorben.
