English: A Marine with Charlie Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion executes a failure drill using the M4 service rifle during an intermediate combat marksmanship training course aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif. Feb. 5. 1st LAR is part of the ground combat element of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is scheduled to deploy later this year. According to 1st Lt. Charles Beagan, 1st platoon commander, “Realistically, with a MEU, you never know what your mission set is going to be, so that’s why we’re training and starting with the basics.” The Marines also completed the same training evolution after nightfall with the aid of night vision goggles. |
