English: Lance Cpl. Maxwell Navarra (left), a squad leader with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Cpl. Zachary Graybill (middle), an automotive organizational mechanic with the unit, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Travis Hippey (right), a corpsman also with the unit, stand at attention for the reading of the citations during a ceremony held at the base theatre aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., May 6, 2015. “I think it’s important because you can read an award off to anybody and it’s pretty after-the-fact, but when you put three people, especially two of them who received wounds and now Purple Hearts, in front of an entire battalion of Marines, that’s a visual representation of what Marines go through, potentially, in combat, and Marines need to realize they might face one day,” said 1st Lt. Patrick Ford, executive officer for Alpha Company. “Now that the fight in Afghanistan is over, they need to realize the potential to be wounded in combat never goes away, no matter what the fight.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
