Rectangular black/white enamel brooch silver mounts, front page of The Times dated 1878. HARGM : 1024 Enamel brooch (black on white) in solid silver setting illustrating the the front page of the Punch Almanack from 1878, although it is erroneously dated 1879 . HARGM 955 The fascimiles of British publications are English made. Bottom 3 Rectangular black/white enamel brooches/stud in the form of £5(HARGM 1025),£10(HARGM 1026) and £20 bank notes (HARGM 854) from The bank note facsimiles are believed to have been made in Paris or Bohemia.The banknotes were imported unofficially into the UK.The government of the day attempted to seize these brooches under the Forgery Act as it was thought such items could be a threat to the real currency.Some brooches escaped the impounding such as these ones. They were likely made circa 1878-1887 All the items are approximately 30mm high x 20mm wide |
