Description1987 Fender MiJ Precision Bass (SN E769792) Neck Pocket - PB-562.jpg |
The neck pocket of my 1987 Fender Precision Bass (Made in Japan). I bought it brand new in 1990 (it even smelled new!), but the serial number E769792 shows it (or at least the neck) was made between 1984 and 1987. I believe the “PB-562” designates this was a '62 re-issue body, which they were doing a lot of with the Japanese models back then. But I am not exactly sure what the red E designates. The serial number begins with an E, but they also stamped other letters here too.. Someday I will find out. The factory in Japan must have been stocked up on parts for a few years there.. Bear in mind this was the late 80's, and everyone was buying Ibanez, Jackson, Charvel and other crazy guitar brands during the heyday of the “hair band” scene. :) A neon green beast with a Kahler bass whammy, 24 frets, active humbuckers and electronics, Hipshot D-Tuner (Sheehan!, heh), strap locks, and reverse headstock would have been cool and all... But I wanted a classic that would be cool forever. :) And the blue finish on mine is amazing, photos never capture how cool it is! |
