English: 10.05.1987 DDR 2061 [17192] Varchentin (Groß Plasten) Dorfstraße 11: Schloß (GMP: 53.582349,12.859265) Hofseite. 1847 von dem Schweizer Architekten Auguste de Meuron in Anlehnung an die Formen englischer und venezianischer Gotik (Tudorstil) errichtet. Bauherr war der Hamburger Kaufmann Gottlieb Jenisch. Der Besitz ging 1875 an die Grafen Grote, der letzte Besitzer dieser Familie war Friedrich Franz Graf Grote. Die Gebäude wurden nach 1945 geplündert. In der folgenden Zeit wurden Flüchtlingen untergebracht. In der DDR als Schule für Forsttechnik genutzt. Anfang 2006 wurde das Schloß von einem Investor gekauft, der es sanieren und zu einer Hotelanlage umbauen wollte. Seit 2008 sind die Bemühungen eingestellt. Im Jahr 2015 steht das Schloß zum Verkauf.
