I saw this pull into a garden centre car park and had a bit of time to spare, so followed it in. An elderly woman got out of the driver's seat and went inside, and her similarly elderly husband got out for some fresh air, so I approached him and asked if I could get some photos. He was quite happy to talk about the car. He and his wife have owned the car since 1983, and the longest journey it has ever done was when they drove it from Wellington to Christchurch in 1986 when they moved down here! It's only done 61,000 kilometres (yes, really!) and the day I took this back in April was the first they'd taken it out since January! The guy said it was just their second car and they'd run it into the ground then scrap it. I advised him not to do that and put it on Trade Me. These cars are rare now and a good one like this would likely command a decent price. |
