Summary
[edit]Description1971 Plymouth GTX Hemi in Curious Yellow, front right side (Greenwich 2021).jpg |
English: 1971 Plymouth GTX in Curious Yellow (GY3), with the 426 Hemi engine (last year for this) and four-speed manual at the 2021 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. Plymouth built 2,942 GTX models in 1971, of which 30 left the factory with a Hemi - eleven with a 4-speed and nineteen with a Torqueflite. Which makes this one of eleven. Alas, the original engine ended up in a dragster, so this one has another unit installed (bored out to 490ci and with other minor mods including a custom exhaust). The owner had drivability problems and in an article they were very proud of how it is now an "easy to start, well-behaving engine". However, on the way out, the verrrry rumbly car stalled several times and had to be restarted, making delightful sounds and interesting smells in the process. |
