Bondi Bleach. The VG Valiant was built in Australia from August 1970-June 1971. Visually, the VG was just a facelift of the VF, now rectangular headlights and a single plane grille, the taillamps wrapped around the corner, but big news was the new Hemi engine to replace the Slant Six with hemispherical combustion chambers. Still available in Sedan, Safari wagon, 2 door Hardtop and Utility. Models available were; Standard, Regal, Regal 770, VIP and Pacer The high performance Pacer sedan and now 2 door hardtop as well, got more power, better brakes and suspension, sporty interior, red and black grille and side stripes. Available was the A88 option Mod Pack; Black out panels on the bonnet and different stripes. The Pacer now available in 4 levels of performance; The base Pacer was 195 hp with 2 bbl carb, Street Pack E35; 198 hp with 4 bbl carb, Street Pack E31; 204 hp with 2 bbl carb, Track Pack E34: 211 hp with 4 bbl carb, Track Pack These Track Pack cars got wider rims, Finned rear drums, close ratio 3 spd gearbox, oversize pistons, revised camshaft and 35 gal tank. 3385 Pacers Sedans were made and 1162 Hardtops. Also available was the Wayfarer Utility |
