This was around the time the production of replica Indy pace cars started turning into a small industry. Here's a little factoid to throw out at your next soiree: What was the Official Pace Car at the 1973 Indy 500? The Cadillac Eldorado convertible. I kid you not. Imagine a white one with white-letter tires and all the "Pace Car" script on the doors. It was a sight to see; I wish I'd kept the two-page spread ad in Time Magazine at the time. |
