| Description |
The new boxy Mk IV Zephyr and Zodiac was built from 1966-72, it got the long bonnet, short deck styling and V-format engines, 1996cc V4 or the 2495 and 2994cc V6. Extra space in front of the engine, due to V-format engines and the long bonnet, was used for the spare wheel, freeing up space in the boot. Mainly only available as a 4 door Saloon, Estates were built by a separate company, E.D.Abbott Ltd from partly finished saloons. The single headlight Zephyr was quite basic inside, standard with a bench seat. It got the no grille look, a Deluxe version got a dummy grille between the headlights. The Mk IV Zodiac got dual headlights, the dummy grille, bucket seats and full instrumentation, standard was the 140hp 2994 V6. The Executive was an upmarket version, it got power steering, fully reclining front seats, Walnut dash, foglamps and a sunroof Both the Zephyr and the Zodiac were assembled in NZ. |
