Description

In England the Mk I was built from 1959-67. Starting off called the Morris Mini Minor and The Austin 7, then called the Morris Mini and Austin Mini in 1961. The new Mini was a very influential design, with its transverse engine, front wheel drive and independent suspension. From 1961, the Mini 850 was also built in Australia, similar to the UK car, but from 1965, the Australian Mini got wind up windows rather than the English car with sliding windows. In 1965, it was the base Minor, the upmarket Deluxe with slatted grille, better suspension and 998cc, also available the Cooper and the Cooper S In the UK, the Mk II was introduced in 1967, but not in Australia, the Mk I continued on.

The last round nose Mini in Australia was built from 1969-71, available as the base Mini 1100 or the Mini K with 1098cc engine, it was then replaced by the square nose Clubman
