Summary

[edit]
Description

CSX2000, this is the first Shelby Cobra ever built, it has been owned by Carroll Shelby personally since it was built and is in its original condition. This car was used in many magazine articles in the day, the car was repainted several times, from magazine to magazine, to give the impression there was more than one of these first Shelby Cobras. Shelby America took the antiquated AC Ace chassis from England, inserted a small block Ford V8 and reengineered the car to handle. They took the car to the world championship sports car racing and beat all rival brands including the existing champion, Ferrari. 655 small block Cobras were built from 1962-65 'CSX2000,s DNA can be found in every Shelby car and high performance part we have ever built' - Carroll Shelby Engine; 260 cu in V8
