Description

These Triumph TR range of Sports cars were built between 1953 and 1981 in the UK. Changes from the TR2 to the TR6 were mostly evolutionary, with a change from a live axle to independent rear suspension in 1965 and a change from a four cylinder engine to a six cylinder engine in 1967 The original and only 1952 Triumph TR1 was a prototype, The better looking and longer 1953 TR2 with the Standard Vanguard 1991cc 4 cyl engine was the 1st production car. The TR3 got more power and a new grille and was built from 1955-62 as an open 2 seater, still with the 1991cc 4 cyl. The 1957 TR3a got a wider grille and exterior door handles.

The 1962 TR3b was run for a short time, concurrent with the TR4, it got the TR3 body with the TR4 2134cc 4 cyl engine. (It had bolts holding the windscreen instead of connectors).
