Description

Morris Cars were available from 1913- 1984. The MG was introduced in 1923, a sporting version of the Morris. In 1927 Morris Motors bought Wolseley, then in 1935, bought Riley. Morris merged with Austin in 1952 to form BMC (British Motor Corporation). Morris, Austin, Wolseley, Riley and MG. Morris introduced a new rounded unibody car in 1948, the small car was the Minor MM, mid size, MO Oxford and the large car, the Six MS. All of a similar shape, it was said the Minor looked like a poached egg. The Morris Minor replaced the Morris 8, quite an advanced little car for its day, with rack and pinion steering and independent front suspension. The engine was still the 918cc sidevalve 4 cyl from the old Series E. The early MMs, sometimes called the lowlight, the headlights were set low either side of the grille. 1948; the MM (lowlight) available in 2 door Saloon and Tourer 1950; 4 door Saloon introduced 1951; headlights raised and set in mudguards 1952; Series II, new engine; Austin 803cc OHV 4 cyl. 1953; 2 door Traveller (external wooden trim), Van and Pickup 1954; New slat grille, new dash 1956-71; Minor 1000; 948cc engine, one piece windscreen

From 1947-54 Nuffield Australia assembled the Morris Minor and Morris Oxford from CKD kits.
