The Hornet was built from 1951-57, In 1955 Hudson and Nash were taken over by AMC, the Hudson name continued on until 1957, but a different styled car based on the Nash, so this the early model, was similar to the Hudson Commodore with that step down styling giving it a low slung look. They were available in Sedan, Coupe Hardtop and Convertible. The new Hornet achieved instant domination in stock car racing, including the NASCAR Grand National circuit from 1951-54. They won 27 of 34 races in 52 and 22 of 37 races in 53. It was also the Hornet that Doc Hudson was based on in the 2006 animated Disney movie, Cars Engine; Twin-H 262 cu in Super Six Flathead |
