Summary
[edit]Description1952 Ferrari 342 America Speciale Cabriolet by Vignale, front right.jpg |
English: 1952 Ferrari 342 America Speciale Cabriolet by Vignale at the 2022 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. Blu Cobalto with Pelle Crema Arbotan Style Leather With Blue Piping. Just six 342 Americas were built and this, the only one bodied by Carrozzeria Vignale, was the first one made and the 116th road-going Ferrari built overall - although it bears an even chassis number, usually reserved for competition cars. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti for Alfredo Vignale, it has the Aurelio Lampredi-designed competition-based 200hp V12 engine. It was delivered new to Enzo Ferrari's close friend Odofranco "Otto" Wild of Switzerland in January 1953. It was imported to the United States in the late 1950's and remained mostly in California until a brief sojourn in South Korea (2007-2008). It was sold at auction in 2017 and the new owners have been bringing it to many iconic events since. |
