Description
English: Gaetano Barone in his Alfa Romeo 8C 2600 at Asmara on 25 May 1952, where he had entry #30 and won his class (only 3 contestants).[1]
License plate is "ER 20123", and one historian thinks this was chassis 2111043, based on spotting it in 1938.[2]
If so, this may be the same car as in the Ralph Lauren collection in New York, claiming it was first raced in Europe, then taken to Eritrea, found by British troops, taken to the US in 1962 by Joel Finn, etc.[3]
