Summary
[edit]Description1950 Allard J2 in Maroon, front right (Greenwich 2022).jpg |
English: A 1950 Allard J2 Competition on display at the 2021 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. It was shipped to Los Angeles in August 1950 sans drivetrain, wheels, instruments, and electrics. First owner (Colonel Charles Steinmetz) installed a Mercury Ardun engine and raced it at Pebble Beach in 1951, and went on to sell it later the same year. The present owner purchased it in 1963, at which time it was fitted with a 1951 Chrysler 331ci Hemi engine which remains in the car today. The owner has a long involvement with the US Allard Owners' Club, and has raced and exhibited this car for nearly six decades now. |
