Summary
[edit]Description1949 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante (34463673946).jpg |
To offer the desired look of a convertible but maintain aerodynamic efficiency, a “faux cabriolet” style was designed by Jean Bugatti. The fully-enclosed cab of the Atalante offered the practical advantages of a streamlined coupe yet resembled a rakish cabriolet. World War II halted the manufacture of luxury products, and when Bugatti resumed production, they used prewar car designs and parts left in the factory. This Atalante is such an example, a prewar design that was built in 1949. Petersen Automotive Museum Los Angeles, California www.petersen.org |
