Summary
[edit]Description1946 Soap Box Derby Racer.jpg |
English: World Champion Soap Box Derby racer for 1946, built and piloted to victory by Gilbert Klecan of San Diego, California. Gil was the first post-war champion at the All-American National event. His racer was a teardrop design, low and narrow, and fitted with a plastic windscreen which, at the time, was permitted on racers. They were phased out before the end of the decade. Also fitted were the new generation of official Soap Box Derby wheels, painted yellow. This illustration was sampled from a SketchUp digital 3D model, seen here, and both are created by Bill Wrigley, Toronto, Canada. |
