Summary
[edit]Description1935 Auburn 851 Salon Phaeton Sedan, rear left.jpg |
English: 1935 Auburn 851 Salon Phaeton Sedan on a 127 inch wheelbase. This car sold at auction for $82,500 on 31 August 2013. Much of the gently restyled 1935 lineup went unnoticed in the shadow of the new supercharged speedster, but five other body styles were also available with both six- and eight-cylinder engines. There were also Standard, Custom, and Salon trims available, for a total of 35 different models. The Phaeton Sedan, a four-door convertible with roll-up windows, was available in all seven lines. This is the Salon version, equipped with a Dual Ratio Columbia rear axle, integral luggage compartment, and dual sidemount spares (the latter two standard on the Salon series). Maroon canvas top and carpeting, dark blue bodywork, and brown leather seats.
It has a 280ci 115hp inline-eight L-head engine, a three-speed manual transmission with a two-speed rear axle. The front axle is solid and the leaf-sprung rear is a live one. Hydraulic drum brakes all around take care of stopping. |
