General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. In 1929 the 6 cyl Stovebolt Six was introduced, replacing the old 4 cyl. From 1933, two models were available on different wheelbases, the Standard and the Master. For 1934, the chrome grille surround was a slimmer and three horizontal hood louvres replaced the 1933 doors. The 1934 DC Standard Six on 107 in wheelbase was available in 2 door Coach, Coupe and Roadster, 4 door Sedan and Phaeton. The 1934 DA Master Six, now on an even longer 112 in wheelbase (2 in longer than 33) also got independent front suspension. It was available in 2 door Business Coupe, Sport Coupe, Cabriolet, Coach, Roadster and Town Sedan, 4 door Sedan and Sport Sedan.
