Summary

[edit]
Description

The Model A, built from 1927-1931, replacing the Model T . The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals; throttle and gearshift. Previous Ford models used controls that had become uncommon to drivers of other makes. The Model A's fuel tank was located in the cowl, between the engine compartment's fire wall and the dash panel. It had a visual fuel gauge, and the fuel flowed to the carburetor by gravity. Available in a wide variety of body styles. The first hot rods were old cars (most often Fords, typically Model Ts, Model As or Model Bs), modified to reduce weight. Typical modifications were removal of convertible tops, hoods, bumpers, windshields, and fenders; chopping and channeling the body; and modifying the engine by tuning and/or replacing with a more powerful type. This A Model Pick up is Rod Hadfields idea of what the Hot Rod Lincoln should look like. Recorded in 1955 by Charlie Ryan, it was a huge hit about a Lincoln engine in an A Model Ford.
