Español: ...Con el intervalo de pocos dias, siguiò al doctor Ezquerdo el ingeniero de Caminos, Canales y Puertos don Julio Valdes, cuyo nombre y servicios prestados a Barcelona, singularmente en las obras del Puerto, de las cuales fu director durante muchos anos, no podran olvidarse. Fué vicepresidente de la Comision Tecnica del Consejo General de la Exposicion y allì dejo gratos recuerdos y no pocos ejemplos que imitar. Formando parte asimismo de la Comision Executiva del Monumento a Colon, intervino eficazmente en los trabajos de cimentacion de aquella obra tan dificil e importante, y dirigiò la fundicion de las colosales piezas de la columna y basamento del monumento, efectuados en el los talleres del ingeniero Wolghemutt. ...
