A postcard addressed to Mr. Prall Erni of New albany showing a group photograph of the 1909 Columbus East High School football team. East High School is a public school located on the near east side of Columbus, Ohio at 1500 East Broad Street. This is the second East High School building. Designed by the Cleveland architectural firm of Howell & Thomas, the building is in the neo-classical revival style and was constructed in 1922. It was dedicated on October 11, 1923. Recent renovation work at East High School was completed in December of 2008. The first East High School students attended school temporarily at the Ohio Avenue and Felton Avenue schools in 1897. The first official East High School building was located at 1390 Franklin Avenue and opened on February 17, 1899. This building was designed by architect David Riebel, and dedicated on April 7, 1899. After the school moved to its present location in 1923, this building became the Franklin Junior High School. |
