Summary
[edit]Description1885c Ferndale CA-HCL.jpg |
English: An 1885 view of Ferndale, California taken from the cemetery, looking west towards Main Street. Just right of the steeple the Gum Drop Trees in front of the Berding House are visible. The Ivanhoe Hotel is at the intersection of Grizzly Bluff and Main Street (first cross road to left of steeple). Notice in the cemetery, the Shaw mausoleum has not yet been constructed.
Notice the thick forest in background along Salt River is being cleared. To the right of the Ivanhoe Hotel, the Brick Store & the Gilt Edge Hotel are built. Both would be lost in the 1906 earthquake. |
