Description
English: Cuban postal card of 1878.
  • Printed in Spain and then shipped to Cuba and Puerto Rico for use in those Spanish colonies.
  • This postal card was sent from Havana to Switzerland on April 7, 1880. It was subsequently received in the Swiss town of Chaux de Fonds, but was then redirected to Geneva in search of the recipient who had moved leaving a forwarding address.
  • The tracing of the routing of this postal card is one of the fascinating aspects of Cuban postal history. Due to its priviledged position at the entry to the Americas, Cuba enjoyed very heavy commercial traffic through the centuries.
