One of the earliest photographic aerial views of downtown Columbus, taken from the Statehouse cupola looking East. A horse and buggy stand outside the homes along 3rd street, which include the Buttles family home at 30 South Third Street and the house of Augustus Whiting at 66 South Third Street. Tree-lined Broad Street runs down the left side of the image. In the distance, along State Street, is the State Street School (later the Sullivant School) as well as Starling Medical College. |
