Title
17th century mount with eyelet
Description
English: A cast gilt copper-alloy figurative connector mount for a hooked clasp or similar fitting, dating form the 17th century.

Descriptions: The mount is an assymetrical trefoil shape possibly in the form of female angelwith oustretched wings. The anel head is rounded at the top of the mount and its wings either side help form to attachment or rivet holes. Below this details of the angel's chest are shown in relief above a large attachment or hook point. The mount is a mottled green colour with some small patches of gilding.

Measurements: 16.45mm high, 17.59mm wide, 2.49mm thick and 1.42g in weight.

Discussions: The mount does not have any exact paralels but a number of eylets and connectors have a similar form such as that illustrated by Read (2008, 231 No. 827). Similar decoration and arrangement of eye and rivets can be seen also illsutrated by Read (2008, 231 nos. 830-831). From these a 17th century date can be suggested.
