中文（繁體）：臺南市左鎮區於日治時期因文教、公家機構的設立及交通要道的開闢而開始繁榮發展，早期先從菜寮開始，而後隨著臺南至玉井公路開闢後，帶動口社寮（左鎮老街於區域內）開始巨大的變化。因設置左鎮赤糖廍，工人日漸移入，地方日趨繁榮；此外，小火車由山上延至口社寮與南化公路拓寬等工程完成，使其成為山區南化、玉井、楠西的民眾和山產進出的咽喉。
昭和9年（西元1934年），當時的地主羅來受、蔡榮章等人私費將山坡地興建了兩旁店鋪，即現今左鎮老街，左鎮老街曾經繁榮一時，街上除了冰店、理髮院、照相館、戲院、麵店、餅店、旅店，甚至有酒家「振春樓」，豐富的行業顯示老街曾經是商業貿易的匯集中心，六、日車水馬龍更是地方居民都有的共同深刻印象。
