Description Leaders from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, joined Reclamation District 2140, The Nature Conservancy and other stakeholders for a tour of the Hamilton City flood damage reduction and ecosystem restoration project on Sept. 16, 2016. The project, located approximately 10 miles west of Chico, California, will construct a nearly 7-mile-long setback levee and remove the existing “J” levee long the west bank of the Sacramento River while actively restoring 1,100 acres of riparian woodland, 248 acres of riparian shrub, and 67 acres of floodplain meadow.
