Description
English: 160824-N-WA993-053 YOKOSUKA, Japan Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman Timothy Saylor, from Hartford, Michigan, and Aviation Boatswain’s mate Airman Naeem Hatchett, from East Orange, New Jersey, store self-contained breathing apparatus’ after a bunker drill on the flight deck of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan. A bunker drill is a training exercise that requires Sailors to don firefighting equipment in under five minutes to respond to an aircraft crash. “This is a bonding experience, it teaches us to put faith in our partners,” said Hatchett. “We got to learn how to work as a team.” Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
