Carlos Sardiello, commanding officer of USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), places a ceremonial wreath into the sea during a ceremony to honor service members who died during the World War II Allied landing on Southern France code-named Operation Dragoon. The ceremony is part of a series of events that the U.S. Navy is participating in alongside French civilian and military officials to commemorate the 72nd Anniversary of Operation Dragoon.
