Description
English: 160814-N-OI810-017 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 14, 2016) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman Kyle Thompson, from Onsted, Michigan, tightens a nut to secure a lube line to the starboard cylinder of catapult four on the flight deck of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Reagan's steam-powered catapults us a piston and shuttle to propel aircraft to appropriate speeds based on the aircraft type and weight to safely launch from the flight deck. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
