Ken Pickard of Pensacola, Florida, and Command Master Chief Jonathan Lonsdale, from San Diego, California, cut a Veteran’s Day celebration cake for the crew while holding “Flat David,” a paper cut out of young David Farragut given to the crew as the partner in education with David Farragut elementary school, aboard USS Carney (DDG 64) Nov. 12, 2015. Carney, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, forward deployed to Rota, Spain is conducting a routine patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
