Description
English: A fragment of cast copper-alloy 14th century buckle.

Description: The fragment represents an outer corner of a large D-shaped buckle, It has a flattened D-shaped cross-section. The upper surface is heavily decorated with incised chequered pattern and incised pattern. The fragments breaks appear to have been fairly recent and are unpatinted, the fragment has a dark grey-brown colour.

Measurements: 18.34mm long, 20.8mm wide, 2.79mm thick 3.69g in weight.

Discussion: A similar example is illustrated by Egan and Pritchard (2002, 69) no. 263 and a similar example is recorded on the PAS database @: <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/940952">KENT-E85129</a>.
