Description
English: Sheet copper alloy buckle plate length 21mm, width 14mm, thickness 6mm, weight 3g. The plate is rectangular and mm thick. The forward edge has two projecting rectangular lugs 8mm long, 4mm wide, that would have wrapped around the buckles strap bar to secure it into place, one of these lugs is missing. There is an integral rivet in the centre of the plate 4mm long, 4mm diameter. The artefact is in a poor condition with corrosion attacking the whole artefact resulting in a pitted surface. These objects dates from the roman period through to the medieval period and because there are no distinguishing features a less general dates is no possible.
