Title |
13th/14th century harness pendant |
||
Description |
English: A copper-alloy harness pendant of medieval date. Hexafoil pendant probably dating from the 13th or 14th century AD. The plate has a recessed circular section at its centre. This contains a raised design depicting three flowers with stems. At the point at which the stems meet is a small circular hole. The recessed area around the raised design contains traces of a red enamel. The six lobes are of scallop-shaped, with indented transverse divisions. They are of equal size, and are evenly spaced. The loop lies at right angles to the plate and has a squared top and a small circular hole. The surface of the object retains traces of gilding. Overall, it measures 35.3mm high by 28.6mm wide and 2.5mm thick (at the centre of the plate). It weighs 6.28g |
