Title
121 Seal
Description
English: No description of this object was contained within the original record. The photographs allow the following description to be reconstructed:

Circular lead seal matrix, flat on both front and reverse, with a substantial suspension loop at the top turned through 90°. The front is engraved with a radial motif; an eight-armed star with a central pellet and curved arms, each in the shape of a shallow reversed S. The inscription is in Lombardic lettering and set between two plain borders. The initial mark is difficult to see, but the rest of the inscription appears to read SIGIL' hVG---L' THOME (Seal of Hugh (?) son of Thomas). The first personal name is very hard to make out. The reverse is undecorated. This style of personal seal matrix is thought to date principally from the 13th century.
