הערות: אַשְׁדּוֹד - העיר הגדולה במחוז הדרום, נוסדה ב-1956 והוכרזה כעיר ב-1968. שוכנת לחופו של הים התיכון מדרום ליבנה. אחת הערים העתיקות בארץ ישראל, ומיושבת כ-3,700 שנים.אחת מחמש ערי פלשתים החשובות ששכנו באזור. שמה כשם העיירה הערבית איסדוּד. בראשית ימיה הייתה מרכז מסחר ימי עם נמלים בתל מור ובאשדוד ים. בעיר נמצא נמל אשדוד, הגדול בנמלי ישראל. אשדוד קולטת עלייה יהודית נרחבת מרחבי העולם.
