הערות: מתוך סדרת נופי צומח פרחים של עוזי פז. דומה מאוד לאיריס נצרתי, נבדל ממנו בקנה-השורש שלו, שהוא צפוף ושלוחותיו קצרות. פורח במרס - אפריל. הפרח ענק, אולי הגדול באיריסים, קוטרו עד 20 ס"מ. בקישוטיו דומה הפרח לאיריס נצרתי עד שאין כמעט אפשרות להבדיל ביניהם לפי מראה הפרח. התגלה רק בשנת 1933 בידי החוקר האמריקאי תושב ירושלים דינסמור, שקרא לו על שם החרמון, אף שאוכלוסיותיו העיקריות גדלות בגולן. דל רק בגולן ובחרמון ולא בשום מקום אחר בארץ או בעולם.
