Description

Archbishop Demetrios, primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, is presiding over the dive during the 109th Epiphany Celebration in Tarpon Springs.

2015 Greek Orthodox Epiphany celebration held at Spring Bayou in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Last year I photographed the actual cross diving by the Greek-American young men, this year I photographed the colorful procession to the bayou and the return of the lucky young man that retrieved the cross.

The Epiphany celebration, also known as the Feast of Lights, celebrates the baptism of Jesus by St. John the Baptist in the Jordan river, this is one of the holiest days in the Greek Orthodox calendar.
