| Description | ENGLEBRIGHT LAKE, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2010) -- Volunteers help clean a campground during the 17th annual National Public Lands Day here Sept. 25. Park rangers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and more than 55 volunteers celebrated the day with cleanup efforts, which yielded more than 300 pounds of trash. The Corps has been involved with National Public Lands Day since its inception in 1994 and has consistently been one of the largest providers of sites and volunteers participating in the event. This year, the celebration coincides with California Coastal Cleanup Day and President Barack Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors Initiative, an effort to promote the conservation of outdoor spaces and reconnect Americans to the outdoors. |
