Description
English: 070412-N-YJ881-214.POINT LOMA, Calif. (April 12, 2007) – A Marine Mammal Handler, secures a strap to ensures that one of the dolphins is safe for transport during a presentation for U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. U.S. Navy uses sea lions to mark and retrieve objects in the ocean, and biological sonar of dolphins to locate sea mines. Marine mammals are so important to the Navy that there is an entire program dedicated to studying, training, and deploying them. U.S Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Daisy Abonza.
