Description
Español: “La Carga de Treviño” o “Batalla de Treviño”, también conocida como “Defensa del Coronel Contreras”, tuvo lugar durante la Tercera Guerra Carlista, concretamente el 7 de julio de 1875, entre el Regimiento de Lanceros del Rey, al que tan solo le quedaban 98 caballos y lanceros, atacando al Tercer Batallón de Navarra de los carlistas, para liberar la ciudad de Vitoria. Es un lienzo colosal de 4,5 por 7 mts, 32 metros cuadrados de lienzo. Fue adquirido por el entonces Ministerio de la Guerra para la Academia de Caballería de Valladolid, siendo tercera medalla de la Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes de 1897.
