La participació de Cardona en el moviment informalista va ser breu, només uns quatre anys (1959-1962), però suposà un abans i un després en la seva obra. Va ser una etapa important perquè l’ajudà a trobar el seu propi llenguatge artístic i a partir d’aquest moment la seva pintura va desenvolupar unes característiques pròpies. Aquest quadre forma part d’aquesta etapa. Destaca l’ús de colors vius i tècniques com el dripping, amb la que Cardona composa el quadre amb regalims de pintura i pinzellades ràpides.
