Summary
[edit]Description0040423 Thap Canh Tien Cham Hindu temple, Binh Dinh Vietnam 201.jpg |
English: The Thap Canh Tien, sometimes called the Dong tower, is a brick-stone composite tower Hindu temple near Nhon Hau commune of An Nhon district, Binh Dinh province Vietnam. It is located about 25 kilometers from Quy Nhon city midst rice farms and forested area on top of a small hill.
The Thap Canh Tien is notable for being reasonably well preserved Vijaya era Hindu monument. It faces east and has a square plan. It had a vestibule (antarala) but that is now lost. The sanctum (garbhagriya) is similar to over dozen Champa Hindu sites in and near Quy Nhon. The Thap Canh Tien illustrates the late Champa architecture with Khmer influences. It is notable as among the sites where the design of columns, claddings, artwork, arches can be studied. The temple has been variously dated between 12th to 14th century. |
